8/18/07 - FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE (Joplin, MO):
Right handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong (New Bern, NC), an East Carolina
University signee, pitched six solid innings, striking out 9 and allowing two
unearned runs to pick up the victory for Team Premier against Team Canada today,
12 - 4. His Bayside Yankee team mate, right handed pitcher Corey Baker (New
City, NY), bound for the University of Pittsburgh next week, pitched the final
three innings in relief to pick up the save in Team Premier's first victory of
the USA Baseball International Invitational Tournament.
Centerfielder Ryan Westmoreland (Portsmouth, RI), a Vanderbilt University signee,
led the offensive attach with four hits and three RBI's. Peter Hissey
(Westchester, PA), a University of Virginia signee and Tyler Chatwood (Yucaipa,
CA), a UCLA signee, added three hits each to bolster the 16 hit attack. Both
Westmoreland and Hissey will play for the Bayside Yankees Senior Americans team
next summer.
Bayside Yankees President and Senior Americans Head Coach, Marc Cuseta, the
bench coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Team Premier 2007 said, "It's nice to
see our guys do well in this setting. Being successful against the best 18 and
under amateur players in the world bodes well for the fortunes of the 2008
