8/18/07 - FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE (Joplin, MO):

Right handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong (New Bern, NC), an East Carolina University signee, pitched six solid innings, striking out 9 and allowing two unearned runs to pick up the victory for Team Premier against Team Canada today, 12 - 4. His Bayside Yankee team mate, right handed pitcher Corey Baker (New City, NY), bound for the University of Pittsburgh next week, pitched the final three innings in relief to pick up the save in Team Premier's first victory of the USA Baseball International Invitational Tournament.

Centerfielder Ryan Westmoreland (Portsmouth, RI), a Vanderbilt University signee, led the offensive attach with four hits and three RBI's. Peter Hissey (Westchester, PA), a University of Virginia signee and Tyler Chatwood (Yucaipa, CA), a UCLA signee, added three hits each to bolster the 16 hit attack. Both Westmoreland and Hissey will play for the Bayside Yankees Senior Americans team next summer.

Bayside Yankees President and Senior Americans Head Coach, Marc Cuseta, the bench coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Team Premier 2007 said, "It's nice to see our guys do well in this setting. Being successful against the best 18 and under amateur players in the world bodes well for the fortunes of the 2008 Bayside Yankees Senior Americans."
