Retired Jersey #14

Pat Evangelista

Played for Bayside Yankees from (1984 - 1987), St. Agnes HS (now Kellenberg HS). BY WS champion 1985 with Robert McDermott (NABF - 16U in Northville, MI). All Tournament team, named best defensive player in WS. Four time BY Gold Glove winner. Played collegiately at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, Academic All-American (four years), starting SS. Missed his Junior year in college due to Hodgkins Leukemia, came back for his Senior year (1991) and was First Team D1 All American shortstop. He is currently a financial advisor for Raymond James Co. Lives in Ft Myers, FL and is the Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at Bishop Verot HS, one of the state powerhouses in HS baseball.

Marc Cuseta

Bayside Yankees Founder (1981), President and Senior Americans Head Coach from (1981 - 2015). Won over 2300 games, 9 National Championships. Coached 65 alums who played in MLB, over 500 who played professional baseball and over 3000 who played at the college level. Still the President Emeritus of BY and resides in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Ross Gload

Played for BY for three years (1992 - 1994), from East Hampton HS, Suffolk County. Was the Carl Yastrzemski Award winner in 1994, emblamatic of the best HS baseball player in Suffolk County. Was the Senior Americans MVP, Batting Champion & Gold Glove winner in 1993 & 1994. Was NABF Senior World Series All Tournament Team (1993) in Youngstown, OH. Has the highest fielding percentage in the history of BY (.997), made one error in a BY uniform in four years. Played three years at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Still holds every major offensive record in school history. Had his number (#7) retired by USF and is in their Athletic HOF. Was a 13th round draft pick in 1997 by the then Florida Marlins. Played 12+ big league seasons with several teams. Was a member of the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox. Currently lives in Charlotte, NC. He is retired and does some amateur coaching & lessons in the Charlotte area.

Gary Scott

Played for BY for two years (1985 & 1986), From Pelham HS in Westchester, NY. Two time BY Senior Americans MVP, Batting Champion & Gold Glove Winner. Two time D1 All American shortstop for Villanova University (1988 & 1989). Drafted in the second round out of Villanova in 1989 by the Chicago Cubs. Was the FIRST BY player to play Major League Baseball. Made his MLB debut with the Cubs in 1991 and played 8+ years in MLB with various teams. Has the distinction of being the First player ever drafted, in the Expansion draft, by the then Florida Marlins in the 1993. He currently resides in Fairfield, CT

Robert McDermott

Played BY for 4 years (1984 - 1987), Two time World Series Champion (1985 & 1986), 1985 WS MVP (NABF - 16U in Northville, MI). 3 time BY team MVP (1985, 1986 & 1987). Still holds many BY organizational records. St Francis Prep HS, played college baseball at Seton Hall University. He's a decorated, retired NYC Fire Department Lieutenant and is currently the Head Baseball Coach at his Alma Mater (St Francis Prep HS). He resides in Massapequa, NY.

Billy Koch

#55: Billy Koch (RHP): From West Babylon, NY, West Babylon HS, graduated in 1993. Was the 1993 Carl Yastrzemski Award winner, emblematic of the best HS baseball player in Suffolk County. Was a 4th round draft pick out of HS in 1993 (NY Mets), did not sign. Attended Clemson University in Clemson, SC (1994 - 1996). First Team Freshman All American (1994). D1 All American (first team) in 1995 & 1996. Played on Team USA in the summer of 1996 in Atlanta, GA. Was the fourth overall selection in the 1996 MLB Draft by the Toronto BlueJays. Played 10+ years in MLB and was the first player in MLB history to register a pitch of 100 MPH in a major league game. Ron Seltzer

BY Vice President (1981 - 1999), BY Assistant Junior Americans Coach (1982 & 1983), BY Junior Americans Head Coach (1984 - 1999), Won an unprecedented 11 NABF Junior National Championships (10 as the Head Coach), including five in a row from 1993- 1997. Has the highest winning percentage of any BY Head Coach ever (.808). He currently resides in Whitestone, NY and Delray Beach, FL. Father of former BY player and Hall of Famer, Robert Seltzer (see above). His former wife, Alice (deceased), was the BY Treasurer from 1981 - 1998

Anthony Graffagnino

Played For Bayside Yankees for 3 years (1987 - 1989), full scholarship to Clemson University (did not attend). Signed pro out of East Islip HS (Atlanta Braves - 9th round) in June of 1990. Played MLB for 13+ seasons, made his debut in 1996 and played in the World Series vs the NY Yankees. He is currently retired and runs a non profit for professional baseball players, helping them navigate "life in general", marriage, etc while being a professional athlete. Currently lives in Avondale, PA.

Pedro Alvarez

Played for BY for three years (2003 - 2005), all with the Senior Americans. From Manhattan, NY, attended Horace Mann HS in Bronxville, NY. HS All American 2005. BY home run Champion 2004 & 2005. Perfect Game First Team HS All American 2005. Was a 9th round draft pick out of HS in 2005 (Boston Red Sox), did not sign pro. Attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN (2006 - 2008). First Team Freshman All American (2006), Two Time D1 All American (first team) in 2007 & 2008. Vanderbilt HR leader all three years. Played on Team USA in the summer of 2007. Was and still is the highest selection for a BY draft pick, 2nd overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008. Played 10+ years of MLB, two time All Star selection. Went back to Vanderbilt University after his career in professional baseball and earned his undergraduate degree in 2021. Is currently retired and lives in Cresskill, NJ. Is the son-in-law of current Milwaukee Brewers manager, Pat Murphy.

Robert Seltzer

An original Bayside Yankee, played 1982 through 1985. First ever BY Captain, World Series Champion (1983) & World Series Batting Champion (NABF - 16U in Northville, MI in 1983). BY Batting Champion (1982, 1983, 1984). Son of BY coaching legend Ron Seltzer. Bayside HS, played college baseball at the University of Massachusetts. Currently resides in Larchmont, NY, works for GE Financial.
